Javea’s Monty the Elephant

Javea is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and by the Montgo Mountain. The high formation of rocks is similar to a wall that has a protective role over the town. On the other side of the wall, there is another settlement called Denia. Javea’s visitors are spoiled by this contrasting diversity. You can bathe into the sea and improve your tan or you can climb the mountain. No preparations are necessary. You can simply pack some snacks and beverages before you go.

The Montgo Mountain is renowned in Spain, but other people have heard about it too and are now booking Javea rentals so they can hike it for themselves. Besides its numerous hiking trails and natural beauties, a certain particularity tends to be shocking for some individuals. Dubbed as “Monty the Elephant”, this massif looks like the head of an elephant. Among its other curiosities are the old objects found on its areas. Tools that date back into the Stone Age, pottery and ceramics items represent significant historical proofs. Montgo’s highest peak can be reached in about three hours of hiking from the Javea villas. The routes that lead to it are not all the same from difficulty’s point of view. However, if you walk at your own pace and you do not end up hyperventilating, you might find reaching the mountain’s top quite satisfactory. In addition, a little exercise does not hurt anyone.

Only 753 meters (2470 feet) separate you from a striking view and the sight of Ibiza. You might even feel like you are on top of the world for a few moments.

Achill Night Club

If you’re looking for nightlife near Arenal, Javea Spain, Achill is where you’ll feel that night life’s pulse. With no ceiling, and varied walls on the first floor, you get a great view of the sea while drinking and dancing your troubles away.

There is also a terrace if you find the view in the bar too “closed in”. What’s great is this place is promoted, and run by the same company that runs Aqua bar in the same area. The perk of this is you can gain entrance into either club, if you have paid the entry fee for one.

Bring your wallet if you plan on going to party at Achill, you need to pay for the privilege to party like a king or queen, on the coast of Spain’s Javea region.  The restaurant also has killer tapas, and other regional fair for your hungry king sized belly.

Ranked as one of the “best places to party in Javea” by locals, and tourists alike, plan on raving the night away in the summer, with their popular/famous guest DJ’s, and then rest in one of the Villas in Javea ready to do it all again tomorrow.

Located on the west end of Arenal beach, some say Javea is not known for its nightlife, but Achill will prove otherwise once among its revelers. The place opens at 10pm and rocks from then till the early morning hours. As I mentioned earlier, be prepared to pay top dollar, for top tasty champagnes, and cocktails.

And I know I have painted a teen/early twenty picture, but Achill offers a party to anyone who can pay for their top notch hospitality, and service. And don’t worry if you consider yourself among the “mature crowd”, it’s a small intimate club, with a max cap of 300, and most of its guests are right in your age range.  So while you still consider yourself young, get to Javea, and Achill, and let the party begin.

400th Anniversary in Javea

On July 2nd the locals from Javea celebrate a really important moment from their history. 400 years ago, in 1612, Javea was declared an independent city. Its main problems, the connection with Denia and the lack of status, were solved by the King Philip III and the monarch.

This year, the officials organize two celebration days, scheduled for June 30th and July 2nd. The San Bartolome church will host a concert that represents the debut of their special event. The Javea Conservatory Orchestra will perform in the show, which is viewed with extreme solemnity and interest by the locals.

The actual celebration day will start with an official ceremony and it will continue with another concert at the Campaners Guild. The concert will consist of harmoniously played bell sounds.

The independence day of Javea will also be celebrated in October. Its second set of events will include multiple cultural elements. Both visitors and locals can learn more about Javea’s history, only by attending the events dedicated to it.

The Soler Blasco Museum will host an exhibition that displays certain landscapes that have a historical meaning. You can find out what happened and when it happened and then you can go see their version from our times. Everything is schedules to start on October 9th.

Besides in-depth knowledge, you can benefit from this event by socializing with the locals. Especially the old persons can tell you different versions of the past. Javea is only agitated during its fiestas and celebrations. And after a day of the fiestas you may want a place to rest your weary head, that’s where the Javea Villas come into play.

The Temptations of Javea

The nice town of Javea is conveniently developed on Costa Blanca. As many of you know, this coast of Spain is the ultimate temptation for people around the world. A location like Javea does not need many arguments in order to be chosen.

The basic requirements that come from its visitors are fulfilled by default by this pointy settlement. The costal area of Costa Blanca starts with Javea and her little sister, Denia. Both are overlooked by mountains and accommodated by foothills. In addition, Javea is an attractive holiday destination mostly for those who want a distinct experience.

Javea’s fantastic placement by the sea, its commercial centers and its exquisite cuisine are a successful combination that can make each day pleasant for your and your family. The historical downtown from Javea is flawless regardless of which point you look at it. Furthermore, the locals are friendly and they speak clear Spanish, without funny accents like in other areas from Alicante.

Consequently, if you already know a bit of Spanish, you can definitely practice it with the natives. In case you never had tangents with the Spanish language, you will pick up words sooner than you might imagine.

Their pronunciation is very clear for some words. Overall, their language is melodious. You can easily earn some sympathy if you manage to salute or at least thank someone in his or her native language.

Let yourself be lured in by the charm of Javea and enjoy its natural resources as well as its artificial facilities. You can enjoy staying in some of the Apartmentsin Javea that are on offer too.

The Montgo Mountain Nature Park

The nature reserve known as “Montgo Mountain Nature Park” is a place for a one day trip, while on holiday. If you’re up for a hike, climbing the slopes of the giant mountain is fun for those in the proper shape. You will transverse many different types of terrain on the journey up, so make sure to bring you camera or a smartphone with a good quality camera so you can take some great pictures to show your family when you get back home.

Once you reach the top, the views of the entire area are breathtaking. And you can see wonderful views of almost the entire area of Javea. For those horticulturists on holiday, the region boasts an impressive around six hundred types of plants.

One review I read online stated “Lovely walks and views without being too dangerous or strenuous” that is in fact correct, but make sure you bring plenty of hydration on the upward bound trip. It’s also advisable to pack some lunches, and carry them up with your back pack.

The area around the mountain is terraced, and was one used by a local winery for sweet wine production. They are no longer used by any company/wine maker but there are many eatable grapes in the area. Just be sure again to check a nature book, or consult someone who knows what berries are edible, and which are poisonous.

As for animals found on the Mountain, there are gulls that nest high up on the nature reserve. As well as owl and a type of eagle nest among the large pines up on the mountain top. Jack rabbits and some other small mammals also call this area home.

There are no venomous reptiles in the area, so that can calm your nerves a little. The mountain can be climbed from any side, again do to the irrigation, and terracing once done long ago. Get a start early in the morning, to avoid the mid-day sun on your travel upwards. In closing I say to you “you must go to Montgo!” I highly recommend it as an add-on, great mountain trek to your Javea holiday.

Mountain climbing is fun and you will feel great after you’ve gotten to the top but it can also take it out of you, so that means you are going to want to relax after you come back down the Mountain right? There are plenty of Javea Villas you can relax in though so you don’t have to worry on that end, so why not get out there now and have a memorable holiday.

Jalousie Restaurant in Javea

So you’re sitting on the beach near Arenal, you’ve had a great day and you’re thinking “what could possibly top this moment?” Well, look no further than Jalousie Restaurant to finish off that wonderful day.

Open almost every day of the year, even when surrounding places shun any sort of tourist business, let Jalousie greet you with open arms. From their specialty cocktails, to their tummy warming breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this place really has it all for the dickering European on holiday.

The food is fast, delectable, and makes you feel debonair. The drinks are mixed with a dash of English charm, and a bit of Spanish flare. They offer great breakfast, and I recommend the Full English Breakfast for the health nuts out there.

Just kidding, after heavy partying the fresh fruit, coffee, and toast would probably do you better. They also offer other fast food throughout the day, by fast food I mean the quick service. It’s a great place to go when there is a game on as well.

The bar is often filled with plenty of sports fans, cheering their teams on, it’s a great place to soak up all this excitement. If the sports scene is not your thing, sitting out on the terrace just people watching is fun too, or you can just chill out on the terrace of one of the Javea Villas.

If you plan on going to Jalousie, you’ll have achieved making the rest of us working slobs plain old jealous. Let me sum up the entire Jalousie experience, with these carefully chosen words “A Friendly atmosphere was a fun time, and a great value of a restaurant”.

Fiestas in Port of Javea

The Port of Javea plays an important role in the life of the locals but also in its touristic promotion. The activities that can be carried out near the port, such as shopping, are unimportant in comparison with all the events that take place there. The Mediterranean sea is part of the Spanish life and traditions more than the outsiders can imagine. Numerous symbols and meanings involve the sea.

The Moors and Christians Festival, the day of Nuestra Senora del Carmen and the traditional Spanish Fiesta that includes several representations, are the main fiestas held in the port area.
The Moors and Christians Festival is organized in the memory of the battles that took place in the port. The locals wear costumes and simulate battles in a very realistic style. At night, people drink beer and wine and Moorish music can be heard in the background.

This festival is scheduled for the middle of July and immediately after it, the day of Nuestra Senora del Carmen is celebrated on the 16th. This is significant especially for the fishermen and everyone else who sails on the sea often.

They place a statue of the saint in a boat and surround it with flowers. Then, they paddle to the Cabo la Nao and back. The complex Spanish Fiesta from August comprises human chess games, bull games and parades. The locals also cook an oversized paella and they can also put it in a container so you can take it back to your villas in Javea. Anyone who wants to taste it can just ask for a bite. It is given for free.

Your One Stop Shop for Tourism in Javea

There are dozens of attractions in Javea, often considered one of the most important tourist’s centers in all of Spain. Javea is located within the Alicante province of Spain. Of all the places to visit in Javea, one considered a one-stop-shop for tourists is Nao, Javea.

Visiting Nao, Javea a Main Attraction
Nao, Javea offers visitors twenty km of beautiful sandy beaches, with many water sports and hidden coves. Cape Nao is the perfect destination for visitors looking for something out-of-the-way that includes restaurants, recreation and a privileged setting.

Nao is host to many unique sites including Granadella Cove, featuring golden sand, one of the more attractive spots along the coast of Javea.

The city of Nao, Javea
The city of Javea is hidden along the foot of the Montgo Massif within the historic section of the city. Visitors can take a time out at the church of San Bortolome, considered one of the most beautiful of the Isabelline Gothic churches that was constructed to defend and fortify the city against many pirate attacks in the early part of history.

There is much architecture that is an inspiration to artists in the area, much of it highlighted in the Archaeological and Ethnographic museum in the center of town. In the harbor, visitors can stop in and visit the church of the Lady of Loreto, which also features much of the architecture prominent throughout the city.

The city also has plenty of Javea villas for tourists to choose from and stay in throughout their holiday. So you can take full advantage of what Javea has to offer and go back you your villa at the end of the day and just relax.

Local Cuisine and Dining

Many of the restaurants feature Mediterranean foods, including paella, salsa ali-oli, rice, beans, almonds, raisins, figs, and sweet wine called misteleta. Be sure to celebrate with locals and before you leave, visit the lighthouses at Cabo de San Antonio Marine Nature Reserve… you won’t regret it, and you won’t want to leave.

The Javea Golf Club

The Javea golf club is located in Xabia-Benitatxell Km. 45, Javea, Spain; it is a 9-hole golf course, club, and pro shop. The course is a place both locals and tourists can play some golf, enjoy a nice lunch, and perhaps get some pointers from the club pro.

They are not opened in the evenings, but it makes a nice day trip for a golf enthusiast. The club is fully open to non-members, boasts a picturesque driving range, and has buggy and trolley services available to all. They also have golf lessons available, to those not privy to the sport.

You’ll pay 18 holes: 50 € or 9 holes: 30 €. Which is a good bargain compared other courses, in other parts of Europe. The play is a little slow compared to courses elsewhere of the same size, but with the great views, it’s really worth what you pay for. Make sure to schedule your time accordingly to the courses slow pace, and expect to have a late lunch.

The current golf pro on site is José Andrés Moyano David. Two other seasoned golfers offer professional lessons around 75 € for 5 lessons. The pro shop offers all the top brands of golf gear, and accessories. It’s not a “particularly” challenging course, but it is a relaxing, sight-full experience to say the least.

Let’s just say it’s a nice view to play through. There are tougher courses in the area, but this is a good enough course to test the skills of a beginner. It’s a wonderful spot to bring one who is not a pro yet, but still wants to experience a challenging golf getaway. And with many different villas in Javea close by you won’t have far to walk to get to the course.
